FAQs
WHAT IS A MUSIC THERAPIST?
Music Therapy is a psychology practice that provides an added platform for one to express themself. Music Therapists use music listening, improvisation, songwriting, or guided reflection to help individuals and groups explore emotions, regulate stress, improve communication, and develop greater self-awareness.
Music therapy does not require any musical ability. The focus is not on performance, but rather on how music can support reflection, emotional expression, and personal growth in a safe and supportive environment.

HOW CAN THIS HELP MY BUSINESS?
Music therapy–informed talks, workshops, and debriefing sessions support organisations by creating space for reflection, emotional regulation, and meaningful conversation around mental health. In high-pressure environments, these experiences can help teams slow down, gain perspective, and reconnect with themselves and one another.
By combining psychological insight with the use of music as a reflective tool, sessions often leave participants feeling more grounded, supported, and equipped with practical strategies for managing stress, improving communication, and building resilience in the workplace.
For organisations and event organisers, these sessions contribute to a healthier, more aware workplace culture while offering a unique and engaging approach to mental health and wellbeing.
WHO CAN USE THESE SERVICES?
These services are suitable for individuals, organisations, and communities across all ages and stages of life. Sessions can be adapted for corporate teams, event groups, educators, healthcare professionals, caregivers, community organisations, as well as individuals seeking personal insight or support.
Because every group and environment is different, sessions are not delivered as a one-size-fits-all approach. As a trained music therapist and mental health practitioner, I work with clients to understand their goals, context, and the needs of the participants in order to tailor each session appropriately.
Whether the aim is mental health awareness, team wellbeing, emotional processing, an informative talk, or personal development, sessions can be designed to ensure they are relevant, accessible, and meaningful for the people taking part.
IS IT THERAPY?
Yes, it is therapy and psychology informed practice.
The individual work I offer, such as Guided Imagery and Music (GIM) or MARI sessions, is therapeutic in nature and takes place within a contained, one-on-one setting.
However, many of the services provided for organisations and events—such as mental health talks, workshops, and group debriefing—are not therapy sessions. These are structured, mental health–informed experiences designed to promote awareness, reflection, emotional regulation, and wellbeing in a professional group setting.
While these sessions draw on principles from psychology and music therapy, they are delivered in a way that is appropriate for workplaces, conferences, and group environments. The aim is to support understanding and wellbeing without entering into personal clinical treatment.
All arts therapists (Music, Art, Drama, and Dance & Movement) are registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa. They also need a minimum qualification of a Masters Degree in order to practice.
